For those with a pilot’s certificate:

I will train you to practical test standards and send you to another CFI for a proficiency check ride.

This typically takes seven to ten hours of dual with an equal amount of ground.  Some take less and a few take more.

There is no knowledge test other than during the proficiency check.

The typical challenges for a fixed wing pilot flying a gyroplane are:
     1. The relatively causal response of the cyclic control.
     2. The slow landing speed.
     3. The somewhat task heavy takeoff procedure.
     4. Remembering to manage the rotor.
